Sam Prince

We are deeply saddened by the news that Sam Prince died unexpectedly on September 24th.

Sam was a driving force behind Make Music Abingdon since we started in March, and he had such a positive no-nonsense can-do attitude about everything – fuelled by his love of music and his wish to encourage more music in our community. He was an absolute joy to work with and had a wicked sense of humour. He kept getting new ideas about music events, and Sam was the one to suggest a monthly showcase of original music – our YMSA events. We had our first one only on the Sunday before with Sam taking videos of the acts and planning for future events and how this and that could be done.

We will dedicate the forthcoming YMSA events to Sam’s memory.

WE SHALL MISS YOU, SAM

Your Music Showcase Abingdon

Your Music Showcase Abingdon
My Music Showcase Abingdon

Make Music Abingdon wants to encourage music making in Abingdon! That’s our main purpose really.

Therefore we have started a monthly Your Music Showcase Abingdon (YMSA) event.

It takes place on a Sunday afternoon, with 2-3 featured acts who will present some of their original songs to an attentive and friendly audience.

We will present a variety of genres, instruments and ages, and we hope you will help us spread the word and encourage local music makers to get in touch.

It takes place in The Old Magistrate’s Court in The Guildhall, Abbey Close.
The event is FREE and for all ages. We encourage donations to help pay for the room hire and to split between artists.

There is a bar/cafe.

See the events menu and our Facebook page for more details

TIE A BOW TO OUR STRING (!)

We are bringing Make Music Day to Abingdon on June 21 and we have an exciting mix of music workshops, performances and gigs in store for you – all of it FREE to attend.

We rely on grants and we could, to be honest, use some extra funds to give our performers the sound and staging they deserve.

So… are there any Abingdon businesses or organisations out there who would like to support our inaugural community festival and help us make it fly high and proud?

In exchange you will receive recognition on our publicity material and our social media pages – and you might even get your own bow on our kite string!
